From Leeds, England, guitarist El Nico fronts X-Ray Cat Trio who perform original soul-shattering songs about love, hate, murder, and monsters. Wearing their influences on their sleeves, it’s gloriously clear they draw faithfully from the authentic stylings of Billy Childish, Dan Sartain, nasty 50’s Rockabilly, gritty 60’s Garage, and trashy 70’s Punk Rock.
What’s Nico’s guitar of choice? A Gretsch G6120RHH Reverend Horton Heat model which can be heard on their most recent EP release I Lied on Killjoy records. Louder Than War Magazine proclaimed this effort, “Four tracks of mashed up psychobilly, surf guitar, doo-wop, and good time rootin-tootin rockabilly coming at you complete with Leeds attitude.” UK Rock ’n’ Roll Magazine said, “It’s Vinyl Gold, get one while you can.”
Other X-Ray Cat Trio releases include their full-length 2015 album Out For Blood, and are featured on two compilation releases, Rumble (2017) and Bad Dylan (2019).
Expect a new album and more tour dates in 2020 from El Nico and band!
