Born in Knoxville, TN and having cut his teeth everywhere from Orange County, FL to Orange County, CA, it’s no wonder that Brent Loveday has filled his quiver with a slew of influences.
Known for founding and fronting Denver’s punk rock stalwarts, Reno Divorce, Loveday has coyly and cleverly blended elements of rock and roll, rockabilly, cow punk, and classic rhythm and blues into a gumbo as sweet as it is savory. Drawing inspiration from artists spanning from Sam Cooke to Social Distortion, his band’s recipe for a good hook and a well spun yarn have earned them critical acclaim abroad and at home. Locally, they were selected by Denver’s weekly “Westword Magazine” as “Best Punk Band” in Colorado for an unprecedented four years in a row, effectively retiring them from the contest. Never ones to rest on their laurels, the band has been taking the show on the road for years in the US and Europe. They’ve also released four full length albums and two EP’s, and are currently working on a new release for summer of 2017.
Loveday’s first introduction to the guitar was a mixture of Chuck Berry and Elvis from his parents’ record collection and homespun bluegrass and gospel from his relative’s church services in Sevierville, TN. With an innate talent for finding common denominators, Loveday has poured these influences into the foundation of Reno Divorce’s songs and expanded his roots-based leanings even further into his solo work, “Brent Loveday and the Dirty Dollars.”
Look for Reno Divorce in Europe and the U.K. during July and August of 2017. They will be gracing the stages of “Rebellion” in Blackpool, England, “Mighty Sounds” in Czech Republic, “Back to Future Fest” in Germany, “Boomtown” in the U.K., and many assorted club dates in-between. Known for their kinetic and blistering live show, they are not to be missed!
