Freddy Sheed

Artist Bio

Freddy Sheed is a drummer and musical director based in London. He has been playing drums since the age of three and has wanted to own a Gretsch kit since the age of six, when he discovered Tony Williams.

After turning 17, Sheed left school and moved to London where he began working in studios and doing small tours around the UK with emerging artists. Around that time he met producer/engineer Ash Howes who gave him his first break recording the drums for Leona Lewis’ chart-topping record Christmas, With Love. From there, Sheed discovered a passion for studios and the album-making process, which changed his approach to music by creating a new focus on putting the interests of the song before those of the drummer! In these early stages, Sheed also spent two years studying with UK drum legend Bob Armstrong who rebuilt the architecture of his technique and further developed his drumming vocabulary, with a particular focus on jazz.

Now 23 years old, Sheed has played on numerous world tours and festivals, and worked with a diverse range of artists and producers in TV, radio, and recording session environments including The Japanese House, Lily Allen, The 1975, Take That, Leona Lewis, Wolf Alice, Nina Nesbitt, Stella Parton, John Newman, Busted, Spector, Meaghan Smith, Thomas Cohen, Minke, Gabriel Bruce, Marika Hackman, Baxter Dury, and Brendan Benson.

Along with all of this, Sheed is a business partner in Buff Records, a record label and commercial recording studio that is soon to open shop in East London.
