JOE ROBINSON:  The Musical Wonder from Down Under

JOE ROBINSON:  The Musical Wonder from Down Under

In Concert in Savannah March 22, 2023!

Australian-born Joe Robinson (from the small town of Temagog, population 236) is the ultimate triple threat: a dazzling guitar virtuoso, a smooth singer, and a superb story-telling songwriter.

At the young age of 11, this musical prodigy was playing onstage with his mentor, fellow Aussie Tommy Emmanuel, won Australia’s Got Talen TV show at 17, and two years later was named “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player magazine’s 2010 Reader’s Poll. Joe has also released seven albums.

Joe has been performing since he was a teenager (over 2,000 shows and counting) and has been a fan favorite across North America, Europe, Asia, and his native Australia/New Zealand. He’s proud of his deep and wide repertoire of songs and the fact that he never works from a set list.

Although he considers himself an acoustic player first, Joe loves the fingerpicking-friendly feel and versatility of Gretsch electrics (Chet Atkins is also one of Joe’s biggest guitar heroes). He has played a variety of Gretsches in the studio and onstage with his single-cutaway White Falcon Jr one of his personal favorites.

Joe’s immense talent and his friendly, Aussie personality makes him one of todays’ more popular instructors and educators. He has led workshops at Berklee College of Music, Belmont University, and multiple conservatories in Europe and Japan. And his online teaching courses include fingerstyle instruction (over 7,500 students have taken Joe’s beginners course), songbooks, and tabs to dozens of popular songs.

Fred and Dinah have been close friends with Joe for many years and appreciate his willingness to share his love of music with students. He has made several visits to Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, S.C. as part of Dinah’s Mrs. G’s Music Foundation to conduct workshops. Joe also uses the visits as great opportunities for trying out new songs because, as Joe explains, kids tell you exactly what they think.
