Cristobal Orozco

Artist Bio

Cristobal Orozco was born in Santiago de Chile on June 15, 1983 and at an early age realized that music was going to play an important role in his life.

Orozco grew up in a musician’s family and at the age of 9, his father gave him his first drum kit. Later in life he participated in extension courses of the “Instituto Profesional Projazz” leading him to consider the career of “Instrumental Interpreter with a major in drums” which he completed successfully in 2005.

Since then, Orozco has been involved in projects with a variety of musical styles including jazz, rock, funk, metal, Latin, pop, newprog, nu-jazz, hip-hop, etc.  He’s also worked as a session musician in the studio and for live performances with artists such as: Octopus, Myriam Hernandez, Mandracula, Consuelo Schuster, Libra, Los Tetas, De Kiruza, Javiera Mena, Pablo Herrera, Augusto Schuster, Barbara Muñoz, C-Funk & Joya, Cristobal, and many others.

He is actively participating as a producer and drum tech in several recording studios (Alba Road, Agartha, Bassino Studio, Estudios del Sur, etc.), and also as part of the drum teaching staff at the “Instituto Profesional Projazz.”

With his metal band Octopus he toured Europe performing at many important festivals such as BAJA PROG (Baja California, Mexicali), and Crescendo (France). In 2010 he traveled to Sweden to take lessons with famous drummer Morgan Ågren. After that, he started touring Latin America and North America with national artist Myriam Hernández promoting her top-selling Latin Grammy nominated album Seduccion.

Recently, Orozco has been recording with Los Tetas, participating in NAMM with Istanbul Cymbals, and he has also been playing live with many renowned bands and artists from Latin America.  He has been working on an exciting project, a drums recording/production service called “Studio Drummer.”  Recently Orozco has been playing for the orchestra of the Viña del Mar Festival and also on the internationally-renowned TV show The Voice Chile.
