Gretsch on tour with U2 -
If you had the chance to catch U2 on tour this past summer, then
you probably recognized a familiar guitar in the hands of front man Bono. He is currently playing a vintage cadillac green Country Club and
a custom-made new White Falcon G6136 painted cadillac green. Gretsch Hollow Bodies have quickly become the hot guitar of choice for many top artists.
In 1954, Gretsch shook up the stodgy guitar world of natural and sunburst finishes by introducing a green, Country Club, jazz electric guitar. (This bold tie-in to the auto industry was a hint of even more colorful guitars to come). The optional "Cadillac Green" finish when combined with the brilliant gold hardware made this guitar both visually stunning and worthy of being displayed at any art museum. Now the classic Cadillac Green Gretsch Country Club (G6196CG) is being reissued and features a vintage model body shape (single cutaway, 17" width, 2.75" depth), brilliant DynaSonic dual pickups, a "G" long tailpiece and adjustable bridge, an ebony fingerboard with block pearl inlays, detailed binding, and enough gold hardware to make Fort Knox envious.
